As we continue our series on discipleship, join Bishop Garlington as he shares what it looks like to live a lifestyle of worship. I AM A WORSHIPER: I WAS CREATED, TO MAKE HIS PRAISE GLORIOUS John 4:20–24 (ESV) Philippians 3:3 (NASB95) Romans 12:1–2 (MSG) Worship Lifestyle: Cultivating a worship lifestyle as a believer involves developing a deep and meaningful relationship with God that permeates every aspect of my life. Since we reflect God as created human beings, and are becoming like Jesus—who is our perfect example, everything that we do should glorify Him. Lifestyle: A lifestyle typically reflects an individual's attitudes, way of life, values, or world view. Culture: The thoughts, beliefs, traditions and practices that characterizes the way by which a people group cope with life. We are heaven dwellers on earth. Culture: The way we do things around here. Psalm 96:11–12 (TPT) Ecclesiastes 3:11 (AMP) Romans 2:14–15 (AMP) Seven Steps To Cultivate A Lifestyle Of Worship 1. Daily Devotion: Start each day with prayer, meditation on Scripture, and worship. Set aside time in the morning to focus your heart and mind on God, expressing gratitude, praise, and surrender. Psalm 5:3 (TPT) The Hebrew word for “prepare” is ‘arak, a priestly term for lighting the altar fire, preparing a sacrifice, and laying it out in order upon the altar to be consumed. 1 Peter 2:2 (TPT) Job 23:12 (NASB95) Psalm 59:16 (ESV) Psalm 5:3 (AMP) Psalm 88:13 (ESV) Mark 1:35 (ESV) 2. Prayer Throughout the Day: Develop a habit of praying continually, not just in specific times of need. Offer up prayers of thanksgiving, intercession, and praise throughout your day, maintaining an ongoing conversation with God. Psalm 119:164 (ESV) Ephesians 5:18–20 (KJV 1900) 3. Worship in Work: Approach your work as an act of worship. Whether you're in an office, classroom, or at home, strive to do everything with excellence and as unto the Lord (Colossians 3:23). Worship in Service: Look for opportunities to serve others with love and compassion, reflecting the heart of Jesus. Serve your community, volunteer at your church, or reach out to those in need, seeing each act of service as an act of worship to God. Genuine opportunities to serve, seldom come at convenient times. James 1:27 (NASB95) Matthew 25:34–40 (TPT) 5. Gratitude and Thanksgiving: Cultivate a heart of gratitude by regularly reflecting on God's blessings and faithfulness in your life. Community Worship: Participate in corporate worship gatherings regularly, where you can join with other believers in singing, praying, and studying God's Word. Sacrificial Living: Practice sacrificial living by prioritizing God's kingdom and the needs of others above your own desires. Sacrifice your time, resources, and talents for the sake of advancing God's purposes in the world.
